MemSum 2.0
MEMORY SUMMARY
Documentation
User Instructions
MemSum2.Com is a program designed to solve the problem of "How do I check
how much memory (ram) I have left in my system without having to run CHKDSK
and wait for it to check my disk drive too? " Memsum2 will report the amount
of memory currently installed in your PC and the amount free for loading pgms.
To invoke MemSum type in the following to Dos:
MEMSUM /c /blink (where /c or /blink is optional)
The /c option will allow MemSum to use color on a color display provided
that the color adapter is currently in color mode. If you invoke MemSum while
the color adapter is in B&W mode you will still get a B&W display from MemSum.
Since I added windowing to MemSum I have found that the best way for me to use
it is to install Ansi.Sys, set up a function key with "MEMSUM/C", (I use a
color monitor) and whenever I want to look at my available memory I just press
that function button. Of course this only works when Dos is waiting on input.
I have plans for version 3.0 to be fully resident and you should be able to
call it up while within another application. Since I do not have a monochrome
card or adapter I would welcome test results from someone who does. MemSum's
output is wider than 40 columns and therefore you should stick with 80 column
mode.
In addition, the /blink option will cause the "PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE"
message to blink in white on black.
History:
MemSum originally appeared as MEMSUM.COM (version 1.0) later renamed to
MEMSUM1.COM and supported only color monitors. After much comment from the
B&W peanut gallery I added support for B&W and even defaulted it as such.
That version was called MEMSUM11.COM Now version 2.0 is out. In version 2.0
the non-blinking version is the default in concession to the Do Not Blink
Anything peanut gallery.
Version 3.0
as I indicated earlier will be resident. All versions have been and shall be
written in Turbo Pascal(*). Any other improvements/fixes/suggestions ?
Support:
All inquiries, should be directed to me via the UserBoard RBBS-PC in
